The purpose of the study is the comparison of tuberculin positive rate between household members with and without tuberculosis patients. The data collected for the 4th and 5th Nation-wide Tuberculosis prevalence surveys is in 1980 and 1985 were used for the test.
As the result of this survey, the following conclusions were obtained 1) The tuberculin reactors (≥ 10 mm) without BCG scar, aged 0-14 years was 63.9% to family members with direct smear positive T.B. patients, 32.1 % with only culture positive T.B. patients, 20.3% with sputum negative radiologically active T.B. patients, 10.3% without T.B. patient.
2) The Mean and Standard Error of tuberculin reaction size without BCG scar, aged 10-14 years were 9.2 mm and 0.9 mm to household members with sputum positive T .B. patients, 4.3 mm and 0.4mm with sputum negative radiologically active T.B. patients, 2.1 mm and 0.1 mm without T.B. patient.
3) In Case-Control study, Odd Ratio between the reactors without BCG scar, aged 0-14 years was 2.8 times higher among those whose family members had tuberculosis patients than among those whose family members had no tuberculosis patient. |
