Clinical Study on Primary Carcinoma of the Lung

Abstract
Ninety six histologically proved cases of primary carcinoma of the lung have been reviewed. Stress has been placed on the histological classification correlated with the sex, smoking habits, and diagnostic procedure etce. Ratio of male and female was 3 : 1 and occurrence was highest at 4th and 5th decades. Main subjective symptoms were in order of cough, pain, dyspnea, and hemoptysis. Histologically epithelial cell type was most common and next was undifferenciated cell type. Whereas adenocarcinoma, was more prominant than epithelial cell type in female. Occurrence of epithelial cell type and undifferenciated cell type were higher in smokers. Metastasis to other organ was noted on 50% of cases and most of adenocarcionoma was spread to lymph nodes and pleura, and next invasive one was undifferenciated type. 49% of cases was diagnosed histologically under the bronchoscopic biopsy.
