Abstract
Carcinoma of the lung has continuously increased in incidence in men during the past few decades. For stage I or II cases of inoperability that results from medical contraindications and for stage III non-small cell lung cancer that is limited to one hemithorax, radiotherapy is the proper choice of treatment. With present methods of treatment for carcinoma of the lung, only 10% of the patients survives average 5 years. To improve the survival of patients of the lung cancer, radiotherapy combined with surgery, chemotherapy and immunotherapy is tried. AIso the other forms of therapy including irradiation with accelerated particles, hyperthermia and radiosensitizer are intensely investigated.
