Abstract
Massive pulmonary embolism is a life-threatening disease that requires early accurate diagnosis and prompt management. We had a clinical experience with a case of 73-year old man who presented with abruptly developed severe dyspnea and chest discomfort accompanied with syncopal attack, that was confirmed as massive pulmonary embolism via lung scanning and pulmonary angiography. We treated the case successfully with Urokinase that is; 4,400 IU / kg IV during ten-minute period, a loading dose and 4,400IU/ kg/ hr for 12 hours, the maintenance dose, without any severe hemorrhagic complications So we report this clinical experience with review of articles.
