The Etiological Study of Pulmonary Abscess and their Resectional Treatment

Abstract
Study of clinical observation and surgical treatment for various type of pulmonary abscess, including 28 males and 2 females, represent following results. 1. Of 30 cases of pulmonary abscess which were treated by resection, 23 were pyogenic, 5 were amedic, one was malignant and other was lipoid pneumonitis in their etiological origin. 2. the direct pulmonary involvement from neighboring organs, for example from liver abscess and esophageal fistula revealed high incidence of 23%. This is probably due to the high morbidity of amedic liver abscesses and esophagical diseases in Korea. 3. 4. 5.
