Abstract
The concentrations of serum prostaglandin E and F were measured by radioimmunoassay in 18 patients with bronchia1 asthma, 18 with allergic rhinitis, 17 with bronchial asthma and allergic rhinitis and in 20 normal subjects. The results were as follows. 1) Serum PGE concentrations were 32. 0±5. 1 ng/ml in normal subjects and the serun PGE concentratstions of bronchial asthma patients with or without allergic rhinitis were lower than those of normal subjects. 2) Serum PGF concentrations were 4. 4±0. 7 ng/ml in normal subjects and there were no differences between the serum PGF concentrations of normal subjects and those of bronchial asthma or allergic rhinitis patients. 3) PGE/F ratios were 7. 4±1. 8 in normal subjects and PGE/F ratios of bronchial asthma or allergic rhinitis were lower than those of normal subjects.
