In a group of 42 sheetmetal workers who had history of exposure to asbestos dust, a study on clinical, radiologic and pulmonary function changes was carried out.
The importance of asbestos exposure history and presence of radiologic abnormalities (parenchymal irregular small opacities 1/0 or higher and/or pleural fibrosis or calcification) was presented in the criteria for diagnosis of asbestosis.
The importance and need of future studies on the effects of asbestos exposure in maintenance,
repair and demolition workers which has not been considered in the past to be at risk of developing asbestosis were also discussed. |
