Abstract
Ulcer formation of local tissue which proceed quite a period of time after B.C.G. vaccination is not only a painful experience for children but also a deteriorating factor for B.C.G. vaccination program which has been an important measure of T.B. control in Korea. Results are presented of the relationship between tuberculin allergy and local reaction after B.C.G. vaccination. 1. The group vaccinated with the standard dose of B.C.G. shown the scar formation on the vaccinated six without exception whereas the scar was noted only in 50 percent of group vaccinated with highly diluted dose(1:50) of B.C.G. 2. The relationship between tuberculin allergy and scar formation of B.C.G. vaccinated sith showed that, amongst scar-formed children, 90 percent was positive in tuberculin reaction after two months of inoculation whereas exclusively negative in the non-scar formed. Tuberculosis immunity conferred by B.C.G. vaccination. therefore, has a close relationship with the formation of scar on the vaccinated site.
