Abstract
1. Of 405 cases, in which sensitivity tests were performed, the majority belonged to the second and third decades of life. Most of the cases had a history of more than one year and nearly 99% were moderately or far advanced cases. 2. IN patients with history of present diseases for more than 1 year 32% were sensitive and 18% were resistant to all 3 main drugs. In patients with history of present diseases less than 6 months 65% were sensitive and 7% were resistant to all 3 main drugs. 3. Regularly treated patients showed more sensitive and less resistant cases than irregularly treated patients. 4. The greater the size and numbers of cavities the more number of resistant cases were observed. 5. Among patients, sensitive to the 3 main drugs 25% moderately advanced and 47% far advanced had persistent positive sputum. Among patients resistant to all 3 main drugs about 50% had persistent positive sputum, but ad considerable number of cases converted to negative within 6 months of therapy. Sputum conversion to negative after more than one years treatment was extremely rare regardless of their sensitivity results. 6. Many of the cases sensitive to the 3 main drugs, even moderate or far advanced, showed marked improvement on X-Ray. The groups resistant for 2 or all 3 drugs had a few deteriorations, but a considerable number of them had moderate and marked improvement on X-Ray.
