MASS RADIOGRAPHIC SURVEY AND ITS MEDICAL AND SURGICAL MANAGEMENT ON EMPLOYEES OF RAILROAD GOVENMENT

Abstract
The T.B. Mass survey on emplyees of railroad govenment was conducted with 70×70mm film, from which suspected cases were retaked with regular size film for further study. Through interpretation of films those taken with regular size films are classified by N.T.A. classification. Having pulmonary tuberculous employees were controlled into three groups, that is; 1. Observation cases group(this group is controlled by taking direct film for chest once or twice every year without chemotherapy. 2. Ambulatory cases group(this group is controlled at Masan railroad hospital by taking direct film for chest 3 months interval and chemotherapy. 3. Admission cases group(this group is controlled by admission at Masan railroad hospital.) 1041 cases of pulmonary tuberculosis were discharged from Masan railroad hospital during 10 years period, from March 1955 to March 1965 and the analysis of these cases are briefly summarized; as follows: (1) 1041 cases were discharged during 10 years period, form March 1955 to March 1965. (2) Morbidity of 1.8% of pulmonary tuberculosis of the railroad employees was observed. (3) A total of 237 cases(22.8%) were operated upon for pulmonary tuberculosis. (4) 42 cases(4%) of whom total 1041 discharged cases was non pulmonary tuberculosis. (5) 836 cases(80.3%) were discharged as inactive pulmonary tuberculosis. (6) 5 cases(2.1%) was relapsed of whom total 237 cases were operated upon for pulmonary tuberculosis. (7) A total 31 cases (3%) were re-admitted due to deterioraion of pulmonary tuberculosis.
